When to travel

Holidays in East Greenland - that can be everything! Being lazy; enjoying the quietness and fantastic views; reading; walking; meeting natives and getting to know something about their culture; boat trips among icebergs and whales; trekking tours in the whole range of difficulties, summer and winter; mountaineering; expeditions to the Icecap or East Greenland's mountains.

Travelling to East Greenland is always great - there is no "best time".

Winter (December, January, and February) is the most impressive season. If you want to see the real character of this arctic landscape, you should come in winter. The shortest day of the year - the 21st of December - still has five hours of day light here in East Greenland plus two hours of dawn and dusk with fascinating light and long shadows.

Winter is the best time to see polar lights, and you can go on tours by dogsled, on skis or with snowshoes, go on trekking tours, or walk across the frozen fjord and watch the native hunters and fishermen.
